Details of the crash were unavailable. When police arrived, the man was standing outside his vehicle, which was disabled. Most of the rim was missing from his front passenger tire and the rear passenger-side tire was flat. The vehicle’s body was also damaged.

The man smelled like alcohol. He slurred his words and struggled to maintain his balance, and his eyes were red and glassy. The man’s bottom lip was bleeding and there was a small amount of blood on his sweatshirt.

A witness said the man, before police arrived, stepped in and out of his vehicle and tried removing jumper cables from the rear of the vehicle. The witness saw the man repeatedly stumble and fall. It wasn’t clear, however, whether this happened before or after the crash.

An unidentified male riding a bicycle stole a delivered package from a front porch on Edgehurst.

It was reported at about 10:30 a.m. Dec. 15. The victim said he saw the theft happen through his home security camera. He called police immediately.

Police searched the area but didn’t find the suspect. They asked two mail carriers walking in the neighborhood to call them if they run across the male.

One Edgehurst resident told police they saw a male on a bike toss a package into a garbage can on a tree lawn. Police looked in the can and pulled out a package from JCPenney, addressed to the victim. The package was torn open and empty.

The suspect was described as white and wearing a dark hooded jacket, gray athletic pants, yellow sunglasses, blue gloves and an orange backpack. He was riding a blue adult bicycle with a black milkcrate basket attached to the back. An orange bag was in the basket at the time of the theft.

The rear window of a Kia Seltos, parked outside Cambridge Court Apartments on Hummel, was reported broken at about 6:30 p.m. Dec. 3.

A citizen called police and said she was walking her dog when she noticed papers scattered on the ground in the Cambridge Court parking lot. Then she saw a steering column on the ground near a parked vehicle.

The woman walked back to her building in Cambridge Court and spotted a second damaged car, the Kia Seltos. The steering column was lying on the passenger-side floorboard and the ignition was on the passenger seat.

Motor vehicle crash: West 150th Street

A Parma man, 59, slammed his sport-utility vehicle into a police cruiser at about 9 a.m. Dec. 17 on West 150th near Interstate 71.

Police, responding to a motor vehicle crash on West 150th, had stopped the cruiser in the northbound lane of West 150th. The man lost control of his SUV on ice and the vehicle slid into the cruiser. No one was hurt.

A Heatherwood woman told police Dec. 16 that $6,500 had been stolen from her checking account.

The woman said she was reviewing her account online when she noticed a check for $6,500 written from her account. The check was made payable to a name she didn’t recognize. The signature on the check was hers but the name of the person receiving the check was not in her handwriting.

Someone smashed the rear window of a Chevrolet Cruze hatchback parked outside a Settlement home between 7:30-11:15 a.m. Dec. 20.

A Ford Transit van was stolen between Nov. 7 and Dec. 20 from outside Penske Truck Rental, 15270 Diana Drive.

Sudden illness, possession of controlled substance: Zaremba Drive

A Brook Park man, 31, was found unconscious at about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 19 in a driveway on Zaremba.

The man had stopped breathing. When police arrived, a friend of the man was administering CPR. Police gave the man two doses of Narcan, a heroin- and opioid-overdose antidote. Paramedics arrived and took over caring for the man.

The friend told police that he had been talking to the man inside the man’s car. When the man fell unconscious and stopped breathing, the friend pulled him out of the car and started CPR.

The friend said the man was a marijuana smoker but was unaware of any other drugs he used. Police found a glass pipe, commonly used to smoke drugs, in a garbage can behind the friend’s house. They also found a cigarette box containing an unidentified substance in the car.

Paramedics took the man to Southwest General Health Center in Middleburg Heights.
